Also, an insane realization: In 1992 Frank Sprongl raced a Group B Audi Quattro up the mountain in 7:08. This weekend a pair of turbo FWD Fiestas ran it in 7:09.

Admittedly there was more dirt on the road in '92, but still.

Kinja'd!!!

I saw this car in person before. I've got at least one pic of it on my camera.

I should go find it and post it.

Here it is. Unfortunately, I was stupid enough not to get a picture of just the rally car, but it's proof that I've seen it in person.

What is that gorgeous machine front and center? Looks like insanity.

Top photo? It's an old Troyer Modified car. They're meant to race at small NASCAR short track ovals. This guy decided to teach it to turn right and race it as a hillclimb car. He takes it to pretty much every hillclimb in the northeast. Here's a shot of it jumping at a climb, and a link to a build/info thread with more details.

EDIT: It just occurred to me you might mean the bit of Mad Max madness parked next to the Troyer

Nope, I meant the Troyer. Seems like it'd be a hoot to drive. Whats powering it?

The Super Chicken next to it is one of my favorite cars in the hillclimb series, an AWD 'thing' powered by a v6 Audi engine.
